Outdoor Kitchen Preparations for the Fall Season

Here are ways to prepare your outdoor kitchen for the rest of autumn.

We’re in the middle of autumn now, and while the temperatures have cooled down a little, there is still plenty of great weather to experience before we enter the winter season. One way to enjoy the outdoors is with an outdoor kitchen. Perhaps you already have one installed on your property, and if this is the case for you, there are ways you can prep your kitchen to get the most enjoyment out of it for the remainder of the season. Here are ways to prepare your outdoor kitchen for the rest of autumn.

Keep Your Plumbing Protected

It’s possible that water could be stored inside of your pipes, and if this is the case, your pipes could burst in winter because of the water freezing over, which would subsequently cause your pipes to expand too much. That’s why you should check your drains and be sure they are clear. You can also take time to clean your sink, and then cover it up so that it’s protected against future damage until you’re ready to use it.

Get the Grill Prepared

You should take time to clean the grill around your outdoor kitchen. Surfaces should be polished to restore their luster. You should use a degreaser in order to get rid of any grease that has piled onto it over time. Be sure to pay attention to the grill grates. These should be removed so that you can clean the lower parts of your grill. This reduces the risk of grease fires, and allows your burners to work more effectively. Lastly, if you’re not going to use your grill for an extended period of time, you should shut the gas line off. This protects the most valuable aspects of your grill.

Turn Your Fridge and Ice Maker Off

Once winter has just about arrived, it’s unlikely that you’ll be utilizing your outdoor kitchen very much for a while. This means you should unplug your fridge and ice maker, and empty them out just in case there’s anything still left inside of them. Also, while many parts of your outdoor kitchen should be covered during winter, do not do this with your fridge and ice maker. You don’t want moisture to accumulate on these appliances, as this can cause damage to them.
